Very few Internet tools are devoted to contemporary research in economics.



To fill this gap, the IRÉC is putting together a repertory of different doctoral and master's theses, or their equivalent, written in Quebec universities. These theses and papers are all related to economics and date back to 1995.

Too often, texts in which much time and effort have been invested simply end up gathering dust on a shelf somewhere. The authors' hard work deserves more recognition than simply having the title and publication date listed in a file - even an electronic one. Today's advances in communication technologies allow much more!

Publishing the greatest possible number of theses in their entirety on the Web will create an important databank that we hope will inspire new work. It will facilitate research in areas that are vital to Quebec's economy. In addition, the IRÉC sponsors a contest with $25,000 in prize money to reward the best papers registered in its repertory.
