In collaboration with the Fondation du Prêt d'honneur and the Société Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Montréal, the IRÉC is offering $25,000 in prizes for the best texts submitted to their electronic repertory.
Prizes will be awarded for the best doctoral thesis submitted, as well as for the best master's thesis. Two runners-up in each category will complete this year's awards.

Any doctoral thesis, master's thesis, or equivalent written as a requirement for a degree from a Quebec university between 1 January 1996 and 15 June 2001 is eligible. Work previously submitted to the IRÉC's annual contest may not be re-submitted.
The papers should be on subjects of interest to the IRÉC. These include general economics, social economics, political economics, and other related areas (corporate management, economic sociology, land-use management, history of economics, etc.).
Special interest will be given to works on the following themes: the effects of globalization, economic development, the balance between private and public sectors, local and national decision-making centres, and economic conditions of workers. These subjects may be looked at using an economic approach (micro or macro) or a multidisciplinary or specialized approach.
Authors of papers submitted to this contest agree to grant all forms of publication and distribution rights to the IRÉC. Shared copyrights or other restrictions imposed by universities must be waived.
An electronic copy of the complete paper, as well as the other information requested on the registration form must be received by the IRÉC no later than Friday, 14 September 2001 at 5:00 p.m.
